Entry Requirements

Students must have a reasonable expectation of success on the programme by assessing your previous qualifications and/or related work experience  and required  English language skills. In order to successfully study for an ABE qualification, you should have an appropriate level of English language skills (reading, writing, speaking and listening). Dynamic Business Environments

Explain the role of business economics in understanding markets and the potential impact of current economic issues. Discuss how analysing internal, external and competitive environments enables the development of successful business strategies. 

Enterprising Organisations

Explain the various legal formations and status of private, public, and not-for-profit organisations. Identify traditional and contemporary organisational structures. The course explains methods by which organisations are managed strategically and operationally. 

Employability and Self-development

Explain the concept of employability, and assess your own skill set in terms of employability and use it to write a unique curriculum vitae (CV) and complete relevant job applications, maximizing your potential value to an employer. It also suggests how to outline your skillset which can demonstrate your employability during the recruitment and selection process. 

Finance for Managers

Explain the purpose of financial and management accounting, interpret financial statements to review the performance of business organisations and report to stakeholders. Prepare cash flow forecasts and financial budgets to aid management decision making. This course demonstrates the use of costing and pricing methods to contribute to business decision making. 

Introduction to Entrepreneurship

The course covers various topics, including the nature of entrepreneurship, characteristics of successful entrepreneurs, business planning, marketing, financing, and risk management. The course also emphasises the importance of innovation, creativity, and problem-solving skills in the entrepreneurial process 

Introduction to Quantitative Methods

Apply numerical techniques in typical business scenarios, focusing on problem posing and problem-solving through arithmetic, numeracy, and the application of mathematical formulas. Explore algebraic methods to express relationships between variables and find their values, utilizing algebra for problem-solving, mapping, and presenting variable relationships. The course includes the ability to plot and interpret mathematical graphs for visual information analysis. 

Project Management

Gain knowledge of the project life cycle, including core concepts and risk identification. Learn project management principles, planning techniques, and the application of simple metrics. Focus on practical project planning skills, encompassing network diagrams, Gantt charts, critical path analysis, and project planning. Discuss the concept of the project life cycle in a variety of business organisations and contexts. 

Dynamic and Collaborative Teams

Describe the nature of teams within modern organisations and describe the principles and benefits of effective team working. Focus on effective team management principles, covering leadership, organization, motivation, and monitoring achievement against objectives. Explore the challenges of teamwork, outlining reasons for dysfunction and strategies for re-establishing collaborative working. Encourage self-awareness of individual traits and skill sets in team working, emphasiding self-reflection, adaptability, flexibility, commitment, and confidence to maximide one’s contribution to a team.

Who is it for?

This qualification offers students a comprehensive grasp of the business landscape and its surrounding environment. Its primary objective is to facilitate students advancement into either continued education or the workforce. More specifically, the curriculum encompasses topics related to the business environment, organizational structures and management, as well as financial principles relevant to managerial roles.

What is ABE Level 4 equivalent to?

Study Guide

There are eight units in total and each one should take 150 hours total qualification time, which is the total time you are likely to spend studying including all your time spent on listening to the lectures, reading the online information, reading the workbooks, using the software, undertaking the exercises, discussions with other students and completing the assignments or revising for the exam. The qualification is taught online, so you can start at any time as you are not restricted by term times. You will receive your log in and password for the Teaching Zone as soon as we have received payment. All you need is Internet access!
