Qualification overview

Designed for working professionals the online course provides the knowledge and skills to further yourselves without interrupting your career. The duration of the course is 1.5 years. You are required to be in physical attendance for 7 days only, mostly for orientation and final examinations at our many Learning Centres located across Malaysia.

The almost 100% online course emphasizes on the broad scope of public health, original research and health policies. The course consists of 10 modules with a total of 40 credits.

Y/615/6526 Business Strategy, Planning and Management	The nature, scope and need for strategic business management and planning in international profit and not-for-profit organisations. A range of classical and contemporary models, concepts and tools in business strategy and planning. The impact of multiple factors and key forces that represent both opportunities and threats to organisations whether for profit or not-for-profit The strategy process for an organisation to achieve competitive advantage and future challenges affecting strategic business management and planning.
D/615/6527 Financial Resources and Performance Management	This unit aims to give you a strategic understanding of: How to use financial statements to evaluate performance, and understand the limitations of such analysis How to use, and appraise the effectiveness of, management accounting information in the planning and control of an organisation’s resources How to critically appraise and evaluate contemporary management accounting methodology to support the effective management and control of resources how to identify and critically assess the management and performance of tangible and intangible resources in business strategy and planning Organisational objectives and alternative finance available to fund the achievement of these objectives how to use financial data, techniques and tools to evaluate long term capital decisions The international aspects of financial strategy The sources and consequences of risk for organisations and know how these risks may be managed.
H/615/6528 Leadership, Change and People Management	This unit aims to give you a strategic understanding of: The contribution that an organisation’s employees can make to competitive advantage and the advancement of the strategic vision and values Strategies for enhancing employee commitment and engagement within an organisation The potential value of leadership approaches linked to High Performance Working (HPW) at all levels in the organisation (strategic, managerial and operational/tactical) How to apply the capabilities associated with the effective management of change, and be able to maximise the contribution of people, within an HPW culture.
K/615/6529 Corporate Strategy, Governance and Ethics	This unit aims to give you a strategic understanding of: How to analyse the business environment and development of a business organisation which operates worldwide and the relationships between an organisation’s resources, product/services and its environment. The concepts and perspectives of Corporate Governance in an organisation which operates worldwide The impact of corporate social and environmental responsibility on organisations How organisations manage corporate governance and how to implement and monitor ethical and governance issues in developing an appropriate corporate strategy.
D/615/6530 Research Methodology and its Application to Marketing	This unit aims to give you a strategic understanding of: The role of research methods, as used in business How to develop research designs from quantitative and qualitative perspectives How to set research objectives and plan a research project How to determine a specific marketing related research issue, set research objectives, plan and carry out a research project, critically analyse and evaluate evidence, and report the findings and outcomes How to design the data collection surveys from quantitative and qualitative perspectives, evaluate the contrasting research methodologies and determine the best approaches to obtain the required data How to write up the results of the project as a business consultancy report.

Bachelor’s Degree in related field with minimum CGPA of 2.50 or equivalent accepted by the University’s Senate; or
CGPA less than 2.50 can be accepted with minimum 5 years working experience in the relevant field.
Have at least IELTS Band 6;
TOEFL 550 if their first degree is from a University where English is not the medium of instruction;
Pass English proficiency test approved by the University

How do you study and how long does it take?

There are six elements in total and each one should take 60 guided learning hours which is the total time you are likely to spend studying including all your time spent on listening to the lectures, reading the online information, reading the required texts, undertaking the exercises, discussions with other students and completing the assessment. The qualification is taught online, so you can start at any time as you are not restricted by term times. You will receive your log in and password for the Teaching Zone as soon as we have received payment. All you need is Internet access!
The time it takes in practice is up to you, and will vary depending on your commitment and how easy you find it to study. 360 hours is roughly:
Over twelve months – 1 hour per day or 7 hours per week or 30 hours per month
Over six months – 2 hours per day or 14 hours per week or 60 hours per month
